Quickstart: Register and Get Licensed

Hiberden runs on a simple rule: restoring and verifying always work, with or without a license. A license unlocks archiving, writing new copies. Every new install also gets a 30-day trial, so you can archive before you buy.

1. Buy a license

Buy a license at hiberden.app. Enter your email and pay through secure checkout; your key is emailed to you the moment payment clears. It looks like HIBA-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.

2. Activate it in the app

Open Settings, then License, paste your key, and click Activate. Hiberden checks the key, ties the license to this machine, and unlocks archiving. That is the whole activation, no account to manage.

The 30-day trial

Not ready to buy? Your first archive on an unlicensed machine starts a 30-day trial, and a "Trial: N days left" chip appears in the header. When the trial runs out, archiving is blocked until you enter a key, but your existing archives, restores, and verifications keep working the whole time.

One machine per license

Your license works on one machine at a time, so a single key can never quietly run on two machines at once. If you move to a new machine, contact support and we will switch your license over to it.
